Mini NES Electronics Kit Status Update #2

So this last week or so I haven't posted anything about the Mini NES project and that's only because I don't really have any new developments.

I'm still waiting for the final production PCBs, they're due to arrive this Thursday 15th.

In the meantime I've just been preparing everything ready to assemble the kits and there's not too much to report about that.

If you're in Batch 1 or 2, then you'll already know your ship date. There's still some stock left in Batch 3, if you ordered from the 3rd batch then you'll receive an email with more details soon.

I'll be able to shoot the rest of the assembly guide videos this weekend when I have the final kits on hand so look out for those.

Also, I've been working on some new designs and will hopefully be able to show them off later this week.

If you have any questions or concerns you can contact me using the form in the sidebar or send me an email.

  1. wouhou ! that's great :) will these new designs concern the cases ? if so, will they be 'compatible' with the kits of batch 1/2/3 ?
    thanks !

  2. Yes, I'm working on a couple of new cases.

Initially I'll use a modded Raspberry Pi for my own version and then release a stock 'kit-compatible' one like I did with the Mini NES.

Eventually I'd like to build up a whole range of mini consoles using the same Raspberry Pi/NFC hardware.

    1. oh... I sense by your answer that what you meant is not simply design adjustments for the Mini NES, but basically new consoles such as the Mini SNES or Mini PS, or Mini Dreamcast etc !!!

    2. I'd be really interested in a mini SNES, but I feel like the NFC hardware would be a little more difficult to work into top-loading cartridge slots like that. And with you being from the UK, maybe you'd be more interested in a Super Famicom variant anyway.

That being said, if you do decide to go the SNES route, AndrewBougie on Thingiverse has what looks to be an awesome starting point that might just need a slight scale-up to make the hardware completely internal.

  3. Any chance you'll be releasing the Eagle files for the custom board?

  4. Everyone is excited to receive their Mini NES electronic kits. You are legit, unlike the sellers from Ultius.com review who seems to be fake.
